it's about pushing your anaerobic threshhold. Going for the burn in a reasonably short time frame. There's many different ways to accomplish this. Supersetting is another. Full-body HIIT such as hard swimming, ladder climbing, or rowing. Escalated density training. Post-failure intensity modalities. 10x10. Katsu/occlusion training. Etc. etc.
Do any of this, though, and you do need to eat accordingly. Carb up after workout. Eat a lot of protein. Eat a lot during the first 24 hours after your workout.
